I'd like to mount a rak 15 in the rear (ds) of a 710k. The "socket for charger" plug is right below where I'd like to mount the rak 15.

What was the "socket for charger" used for originally?
Does that plug go straight to the starter (not fused)?
Ok to get power from that plug and route it up through wheel well/bench (behind rak 15)? Or any reason I wouldn't want to?

Any Ideas would be appreciated

Never saw a 2-pole plug on the tail section before, wonder if that was a add-on.
There's a few variants of acc plugs for the K I have seen, 1 plug and a 2 plug
version behind the passengers seat both with Breakers. Also schematics do
show other variants with 2-pole and fused, also a dome light fused. You may just
want to trace that line out and see if it's fused or not. You do want to fuse that line
as close to the source as possible.

My 712W has the same two pin socket behind the passenger seat; the mating plug powered the radio gear and lights in the box (and all this had circuit breakers in the box, in a separate power panel). The power socket goes directly to the battery without an obvious fuse, but it may have fuse-able links in the harness. It looks like it uses #10 AWG for the wiring, pretty heavy. Your RAK 15 only draws 15A (which is half of the alternator's output, by the way) so 12 gauge wiring or larger should easily be able to handle that current. If the wring looks "beefy" (i.e., #12 or bigger) I'd say just plug the RAK 15 in and see what happens. If fused at a lower current, the fuse will (somewhere) blow and you will know it. If unfused and/or fused at a high enough current then all will be well.

My Swiss 710K has it as well. I thought, though have not found convincing evidence, it was used to connect an external generator to power the truck/radios. Or, in the reverse, to power accessories. I too have been curious about size of the wire and if fused but have not had the opportunity to fully investigate. Thanks for the input, Jim.

Thanks for the responses! The plug is housed in a metal cup from behind...doesn't look to be bolted or screwed in, can't tell how its mounted. There is a connector in the housing but can't seem to pull it out due to it being wedged in there fairly well. The truck has the 2 circuit breaker protected plugs under table behind front passenger seat. I believe I'm going to tie into the wires at the rear plug and run them through the rubber grommet in the metal cup to the rak 15 inside.

Well that rear plug sure looks like a factory installed outlet -- havn't seen
one of these before good to know.

From the schematics which calls out several different variations it seems there
is a fuse in-line on these Aux. plugs. The plugs intended for the (radio) Transmitters
typically have a breaker as you have shown behind the seat.

I have tapped-off on this break box, with two circuits, one for my ECU power source
24V to 12V converter, a second circuit for a Alt/MPPT charger for 12V AUx batteries.
Each of these circuits are protected by a breaker.

There should be a small channel at the between the side wall of the truck and the back
panel under the Table to snake at least two 10AWG wires through without having to
drill any holes.
