Where do I begin? Is this a known issue?

Best course of action is to use the site Search function (upper right of the main page, click on the gear). Search in the Electrical section for "no flashers". 67 results. This will give you some ideas of things to check.

I had that problem once, it was a connection pulled loose at a terminal block behind the dash. It was obvious, so it was easy to find.

Well, IIWY, I'd start by pushing in each circuit breaker, even if they look normal. If that doesn't do it, your next step should be to break out your multimeter (or buy one if you don't have one). A decent meter can be had for $20 or so. If you know how to test for dc voltage and for continuity, you'll be able to solve most electrical issues you'll run across on the truck. If you don't know how to do those, you should have someone show you - it isn't tough.

There's a junction block under the rear of the truck that's notorious for corrosion. It can be replaced, as can the wiring harness, if need be.

As Paul C suggested, please do some searching of the forum. There's been a LOT of good questions asked, and answered, already. The biggest problem of not searching is that eventually all the guys who really know stuff get tired of answering the same 40 questions for the 20th time, and quit paying attention. It's easier to help you learn how to successfully search. :D

The second biggest reason is that by bringing up former threads and then adding to them, the knowledge bank gets built up and becomes more searchable.

The power flows through the fourway flasher switch; cycle that switch a dozen times and see if you get any different results. If you get changing performance, clean or replace the switch.

PROGRESS!
So now I have flashers! (was the ground at the flasher switch) but still no brake lights. The connector box in the rear is new and clean. Searching for the brake light switch...

The brake switch is on the master cylinder. Jumper it out and see if the lights come on. If not, check voltage at the input side. If it is zero then the problem is a fuse or in the line side wiring.

Never rule out 2 dead bulbs!
