New LED Headlights Don't Work - Help Please

Post by Hersir »

I finally picked up a set of new military LED headlights on GovPlanet. They fit perfectly and the three blade connector fit snugly into the stock Pinz connectors. Now, I wasn't sure what to do with the other wires so I simply capped them off. When I powered on the truck the lights barely emitted any light and both were flickering.

I presume I must have gone wrong somewhere with the loose wires--any ideas on where I went wrong?

Thanks.

Not all 3 blade connectors are wired the same, though many are. You should consult the Pinz electrical schematic available here on the forum.
Yellow wire is low beam and the white wire is high beam. The ground wire (possibly brown) should be riveted to the headlamp bucket.

The left over wires (black and /or gray) should have been for the parking bulbs in the original headlights. Taping them off would be the correct thing to do.

On the Passengers side, GREEN is the parking light cut the exposed wire off,
on the Drivers side the parking light is BLACK. There will be two white leads
on one of the terminals of the 3-pin connector, this is GROUND and you should
make sure it is well connected. Remove the short While lead that was ground
for the parking light. You can easily do this by pressing in on the terminal of
the 3-pin connector it is a spring loaded connector. Use some dielectric spay
on the lead before you insert, use dielectric spay on the the spades of the new
LED light before connecting. Dielectric spay will prevent corrosion of the
terminals and ensure a long lasting good connection.

On the original schematic the passenger side parking light is indicated as gray (grau), however on the revised color schematic that wire is shown as green (grun). It apparently could be either though on my current 710M it is gray.
