#15 has power. Anything else I should check before tearing apart the dash?

Best way to get there? Remove the whole panel or try to just remove the switch?

Thanks,

Jake

That's interesting. Says at least that part of the dash switch is working.

But interesting enough, and I made a mistake on one comment that
needs correction, 81a is Hot and you have power there. That's actually
the Low beams NOT the High beams so you should have power at terminal
56b by default for the Low beams. If you don't have power on 56b that's
worth poking around to figure out why. Sorry for the mis-direction.

I'd ply around in the area of the relay before pulling the Switch, something
seems odd there. When it comes time to remove the dash switch you do not
need to remove the entire dashboard. Just remove the nut and the switch
will be easy to remove (carefully).

The key thing to focus on at this point is you have confirmed you have
Power to terminals #81a and #15 (the coil). That's sufficient to work with
for now. You should be able to flash your High beams on with the column
switch. You have power to the relay coil so and a momentary bump should
connect 81a to the headlights as a test. That should do something, if
not then hunt for a connection problem. Then maybe you have a loose
connection up at the primary Switch on terminal 56, or a bad switch for
normal Low Bean running.

With the switch turned on I only get power to 81a and 15. I can’t hear the relay change with the switch on the steering wheel. Know of any source for the relay other than SAV? $82 seems like a lot for this especially if it turns out to be something else.

Thanks

Well one thing you could try is touching terminal #31 on the Relay to Ground.
That simulates what the column switch should do. If that works you have
eliminated the Relay as a problem. These relays are interesting in that they
Latch and work momentary. A "longer" touch to ground should latch the relay
but the beams won't go on unless you have power on terminal #56. But, and
here's the odd duck, a quick momentary touch to ground and the relay won't
latch but will connect 81a to lights. That's to "flash" your headlights when
passing.

Lads

the relais gets triggered on connectors 15 and 31 . So if you disconnect them and insert a bulb you can verify the light switch part of the indicator lever is ok.
now I assume you have 24 volts on both input connectors, 56 and 81a.
81a has got to be active with main power on and fuse 9 ok,56 is hot with the lights turned on.
check fuses 3 to 6. they are high and low beam for both sides.
connect 81a directly to 56b, this should give you low beam, to 56a high beam.

if these tests are succesful the relais is to blame, else check your wiring

Just to finish this off. I put everything back as it was since I was headed out on a three day run and wasn’t expecting to need headlights. When everything was back in place the headlights worked. Hi and low beam all good. Maybe something was loose and is now tight.

Thanks for all the wisdom shared.
