Windscreen wiper motor

Post by SNP »

I think mine is finished and need to obtain a new (or used) one. Are there generic ones you can buy or do we need to specifically buy one made for the pinz?

Thanks in advance.

Except wound for 24V, a VW bug / Porche wiper motor is nearly identical.
There are a couple of shops in the U.S. that can rebuild these, email: westcoastwipers@gmail.com,

Not sure where you are located, but I am sure there are Bug and Porche enthusiasts
elsewhere with small shops supporting builds and restoration.

The other path forward would be to just take it apart yourself and inspect the
brushes and bearing. A common problem is simply poor brush contact to the communtator.
Bearing wear can cause the unit to bind, when that happens it's time for a rebuild but
they can be rebuilt. SAV offers an upgraded motor as well.

Thanks, I'm in the UK. Just had a thought; if I 'changed' the voltage (24-12v) that the wiper motor had access to I could potentially use a similarly sized motor, right?
