24 to 12 volt

Post by Thomas-E »

I use a Solar Converters Battery Equalizer and am very happy with it,
been using it since 2006.

They have other neat items such as a 24 too 12 volt battery charger which I am installing in my camper (all 12 volt in it)

Check out the following link on the Real 4x4 Pinzgauer forum, it's in the "archive section".

http://real4x4forums.com/PinzgauerBBS/v ... php?p=5668

Note the use of relays to completely remove it whem the battery switch is off. Inexpensive relays can be obtained from
www.allelectronics.com

Best of luck in your search!

12 Volts

Post by Thomas-E »

I apologize about the link.... I had saved it some time ago and just didn't check it again.

Here's another one that the shows a hookup for the Solar Equalizer, just copy and paste into your browser

http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/oNKbS-dbtj ... ire_02.jpg

This schematic adds two relays in the equalizer lines to prevent a small but constant drain when the engine is off.

Take some time to see what other pinzers have used, there have been complaints about some 24 to 12 volt converters not lasting long.

I don't know if they're the best, but I'm running one of the 20 amp Solar Converters too. Northern Arizona Wind and Sun had the best price at the time-

Definitely wire it with the relays or it will drain the batteries every week and Optimas don't like that. Fortunately Optimas have a good warranty
