24V outlet box for radio

Post by texas pinzgauer »

While cleaning the area behind the passenger seat over the weekend, I came across an outlet looking box and was wondering what it is for. So here's my question, what can I do with this outlet?

Serious and semi-serious responses will be appreciated!

As you said, it was originally for connecting power for the radio(s). SAV sells a plug that fits it:

Probably Scott at EI does also.

You can also just remove the box and use the +24volt wire to connect to a 24-12volt convertor but be sure to use a suitable fuse/circuit breaker and cutoff switch. IIRC, the +24V is live all the time so before any work remove the positive cable from the rear battery so you have no surprises

24v plug

I use mine for a hand held spot light that I made up similar to the ones on my front bumper. Got the screw in plug from SAV.
Also connected the 24 to 12 converter (with switch) and wired in an outlet on the other side of the wall for the ARB cooler in 24V mode while traveling.

There are fuses in everything but the ARB plug.

When you have your truck in front of you you will notice that there is a little sticker that has the A and B or the plus and negative marked (I hope so) mine was. This when a volt meter comes in handy.
