Help needed but not urgent.

Does anyone know what the s1,2,3 positions on the headlight control are for?

It isn't obvious to me, since sidelights, main beam are one way, what these three others are. Also, it might be that on mine they are blanked off since I don't see how you can rotate the selector to those positions.

Something to do with the military convoy lighting systems perhaps?

Any wisdom gratefully received.

Search for blackout lights

Push in the centre pin and then lever will rotate. Unless you have blackout lights it isn't going anywhere.

Actually, while experimenting with the blackout light circuit on my Pinz, I learned that the Swiss tail-lights have blackout lights built in so they function both ways. Basically all you need to get the blackout lights working is to add the front light if your Pinz is not equipped with one and it plugs right in to a socket. You run the wire through the same grommet as the horn wire. Also, to activate the blackout positions on the switch, you depress the middle pin with the ignition key and slide the cross-bar as well. Mine was seized up from non-use so I had to soak it with PB Blaster for a while the get it broke loose. The switch positions are S1 blackout tail-lights only, S2 black-out head-light only, S3 black-out head and tail lights.

There is a small lamp inside the tail lights for the blackout function and I think it (small bulb) might even work in the license plate lamps as a spare.
Rarely would we use the blackout function on the road as the pinz is difficult enough to see with all the lights operational from the rear. Can't even
think of a reason to use it on the trail as many have gone to great trouble and expense to add lights for more visibility.

Might be able to use the function for spot lights though, had not thought of it till this post.

With mine they currently all do the same thing , no matter what position the switch is on. The lights are very dim, not sure if that's just the way the original equipment was
I Just purchased new halogen replacements that just have the 3 way plug on them , so I will have to figure out the wiring
without using the extra wires that patched into the side of the oem's

In Camouflage Operation S1-3 all visible lights are switched off: no dashboard lights, no turn signals ...
... the Co-driver reading lamp, the plug for headlamp and the Eberspächer work, as well as wiper, horn and ventilator

S1 - camouflaged tail light only
S2 - head light only
S3 - both

instead of the normal brake light there is a camouflaged one as well.

The "Blackout-Switch" is in K´s only: when openin one of the doors of the K the white bulbs are switched of immediatly and the blue ones become on.
