I inadvertently removed the battery key while the engine was running. I shut it down re-inserted the battery key and restarted
the pinz. Seemingly there are no noticeable ill effects. Everything works, which really surprises me, as I have heard/read that
what I did is not a good thing.
Have I done damage and not yet noticed what is going to crap out?

It's my understanding that this is the very circumstance that the battery switch relay (Group 09-01-15) protects against.
I don't think you did any harm and I'll bet you're not the first to have done this.

No big deal, your truck did as it suppose to. That is what the relay is for... If your truck did die, it usually means a bad connection at the molex connector.
BUT, it is the main reason you dot not run any ground wires directly to the batteries... those components connected can become fusible links....
