LED Headlights
Re: LED Headlights
I've done all mine by trial and error. The circuits in the Trucklite LEDs are pretty well protected and I've never burned one out just swapp the wires around till you figure it out. I took mine out of the volvo and put in the pinzgauer so can't go back to see but it wasn't that hard.

Re: LED Headlights
K, I'll give it a whirl. Wife got me a pair for our anniversary, ain't she sweet?
Re: LED Headlights
Has anyone had any luck installing the new JW Speaker Evo 2's in the standard Pinz headlight bucket?
The Evo 2's have tapered the back heat sink area to accommodate more buckets with this version -- so I'm
hoping someone has already tried
Yes! They are significantly more expensive than Truck Lite 27270C's but JW's get better overall performance.
Hate Winter! When I can't drive off-road then I can't seem to stop the damn improvement projects

Re: LED Headlights
You saw the posting on these ones?

Not sure if they are older or if the newer ones are as big or not.

Re: LED Headlights
Yup! Saw that one. These have to be EVO 1 generation with a date code of 2009.
These definitely have a larger heat sink than the EVO 2's and know to interfere on some buckets.
Hoping someone sprung for the EVO 2's and tell us if they work or not. Failing that I'll give JWS a
call and see if they can send me a detailed mechanical drawing. I knind'a like the idea of a lens
based optical system than mirrors with some holes and artifacts. Ya, I know the Truck Lites are
darn good.

Re: LED Headlights
Yes, I found that as well. The detail that is missing is the potential interference at the edge of the top part of the
heat sink at the plane of the connector. The EVO 2 "relieved" that edge back (smaller radius) from the 1'st gen,
don't know if that's enough. Y'd think there wouldn't be a problem if the back end was 100% physically compliant
with PAR56. At $250 a pop, I'm hesitating I really like the Black ones though.

Re: LED Headlights
No response from JW Speaker on the question of the 8700 Evo 2's physical compliance to PAR56
As a last resort, I took the drawings of a Truck Lite 27270C and a JW, then sized and overlayed the images.
Assuming these drawings represent the true shape of their product, the JW does appear to have the
potential for more interference in the bucket than a Truck Lite. Guess it's the Truck Lite's for me.
