gas guage ground ?

when i turn on the lights or the wipers the gas gauge moves to full is the ground an issue here ?

IIRC, power runs to the meter, then grounds through the sending unit. If you disconnect the wire at the sender and ground it, the meter should peg. Something sounds fishy in the wiring. I'd get a volt meter and check to see what's going on there.
