VDO Speedometer Calibration

Post by landy »

Anybody know the pulse/mi value to use for the speedo calibration? I'm running 265/75-16 tires.

Thanks.

I just used the measured mile calibration method. Mark the road. Start the calibration at the start point. Drive to the 1 mile mark and finish the calibration. It seemed very accurate.

Sorry, I don't have any idea of the pulse count.

I also used the measured mile, used my gps to establish a mile than compared the results to the gps at speed. Speedo and gps show same speed so I'm happy.

I also found the measured mile to be the best method. Number of pulses is determined by the actual diameter of the tire and the same size in different brands can be different diameters (even though they should be the same).
My VDO speedometer indicates a pulse rate of 25030. My tires are 31" in diameter.
