Intrument Panel Indicators

Post by compunerdy »

Would anyone else be interested in something like this?

I am going to do something along these lines but for just me I probably will not worry about making it fit the stock dash plate but if others are interested then we might consider a group buy.

We could have it setup with 24v LED's and the stock graphics or custom ones.. On mine I plan to move the 4x4 and diff locker lights to here as well.

Here is what I came up with. I decided to just use the standard indicator cutout for now and might change it up again in the future.

What's the gas pump indicator? Are you going to have a low fuel sensor?

Same question applies to the left and right directionals. Isn't it just a single lamp on the stock panel? You might have to do some electrical modifications, it sounds like.

It's certainly newer looking. Not so say you aren't onto an interesting idea, but pretty much every time I think up some modification to make, I come to realize the brilliance of the original design. It's made me appreciate the original design that much more.

I'll be interested to learn how your project works out. Please keep us informed.

Yes the gas pump will be for a low gas warning light.

The turn signals are already on separate circuits so very easy to hook up plus they will both blink when the flashers are on since they are tied into the same circuit.

I should have some progress pics in a week or so.

Still playing with diffusers as my LED's are a bit bright but here is where I am at so far. The colors do not look as washed out as the camera makes it look. The red LED's blink to catch your attention better. I might try hooking a buzzer to the RPM light as well for a audio alert.

Currently it is acrylic. I have a laser cuter/engraver and it made a easy way to test fit locations, fit, etc..
