Rear, DS, taillight Panel

Post by berger »

Hey Guys.

While my truck is apart, I decided to replace the DS taillight mount panel. I damaged it on my last excursion and it was cheaper to replace. On the rear of the panel here is a conical shaped protrusion and the front is covered by a tiny square patch. Is this a blackout light mount? Mine had wires running into it with a bad caulking job covering the hole, but the wires were just sitting loose in the void.

I'm curious to know what that is for too.

My truck had a 24V connector there. On the schematic it is marked battery charger socket - optional.

Really? Like a specialized plug?

Funny as I noticed it on the one that just sold on ebay and checked pics of mine to see if I had it, which I don't :?

Cool!

That would make trickle charging MUCH easier!

I have it on my 710K which has the 12 pin trailer plug as well. It's a heavy gauge 2 pin plug which I have the Mil # for somewhere.

Raises the question, is it to be used with the master power switch in the on or off position?

Guess I need to study the schematic.

The schematic shows the wire going to the starter so you would need to have the battery disconnect key in place but not the ignition switched on.
