I finally found a flasher that works with LED's
I went through multiple flashers before I found one that would work with my setup as all lights on my turn signal setup are LED's including the dash indicators. All the flashers I tried said they would work with LED's but they never fully shut off between flashes causing my indicators to not go dark and some had erratic flashing. But this cheap one from china did the trick..

Thanks.
Good to know. I installed rear LED lights in conjunction with the original lights as I could not find a LED flasher.
Still looking for LED headlights though.

Great info, thanks!
I left one of the two "traditional" bulbs in each front turn signal, the rest (second front bulb and rear turn signals) are led, because I couldn't get them to flash correctly with all leds.

I have JW speaker front and rear turn signal, tail, park lights which are full LED sealed units so it was either find a correct flasher or add extra lights.

I got a pair like these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-of-nos-MIL ... 34&vxp=mtrStill looking for LED headlights though
Not quite as much light as the 70W halogens that I had in the stock reflectors, but much better aimed so the reduction in light is not as critical as it seems.
When I made my custom LED taillights I kept the stock turn signals and incandescent bulbs; but I also added some turn signal coupled front/side marker lights that gave an additional slight load. I had switched to a Grote electronic flasher many years ago -- it has worked great, but it didn't have a terminal for the turn signal dash indicator so I created my own (for you technical types out there, I used two diodes so either side turn signal also illuminates the dash indicator). I don't know if the Grote flasher has a minimum current level or not; I've never ran into a problem.

Jimm,
I am going to assume that they fit the existing 'holes' with no modifications? If so I may just go with them. It is up for bid but I can see that those just might work.
edit: are there directions for which way is up?

Re: I finally found a flasher that works with LED's
Yes, they fit exactly like the existing glass lens/reflector does. There are three "bumps" that key the light into the housing; but the bumps are not symmetrical so it only fits one way. IIRC the three wires are blue (high beam), red (low beam) and white (ground - or is it black?? I'm trying to remember) and it just hooks up the same way. The LED bulb leads have bullet connectors and I just removed the stock wires from the original headlight socket and crimped the other half of the bullet on to them; then it just plugs in. Other than that crimping it was a screwdriver only conversion.I am going to assume that they fit the existing 'holes' with no modifications?

As Jim M. said, they are fairly easy to install and they produce a nice white light.
I have them on my '72. Bought them used as take-offs from a military Hummer.
(BTW, that's one of Andre's bumpers)
Back to the original topic, thanks for finding those flashers, compunerdy. Just ordered a couple.

standard 12v EL-13 flasher works well with LED or stock bulbs
