I've held off answering... my radio 710m has this receptacle- as does Andre's. Why do you think yours wasn't a radio truck? Lots of people pulled out the tables and added fold down benches in the back.

Mine has no receptacle, only a plate, that I have managed to cover almost 50% by using a larger frame that holds my additional LED tail lights.
There was no wire in that vicinity either, so I figured it was not an important thing...that is until this post came up.

I guess it's possible that mine could have been a
different configuration, but I don't see any of the signs. There
was no outlet on mine, like McCall's, and it looks like it never had one,
but it has what looks just like what you would see behind a light.
A round, water resistant, area, and the only access is a little plate
with 4 screws. I don't think mine was ever used. The screws broke
off very, very easily, as if rusted through, and the wire had a
factory-style crimp end cover.

I'll follow it back this weekend and see if I can determine
what makes it work or if it can be a switched power supply.

The red wire(folded back and taped) is live 24v(batt) . They ran the circuit and capped the wire if a socket was not installed
