Preventing icing of LED hedlights

Post by ziegler »

Because LED hedlights don't produce any heat, what can be applied to the lights to stop ice formation?....WD 40, oil, etc.

Why is ice forming on them? I would think oil would attract huge amounts of road grime and make them less than effective.

RainX helps a lot on glass blubs to prevent moisture from collecting. When I lived in CO, I always had to knock the ice off. It would get too thick to melt.

Not an answer to your question but I know that truck lite came out with 7" headlights that had built in heaters on the lens to stop that issue.

As to your question - try vinegar on them but nothing really works when your driving around in freezing rain/slush
