You ever get these tires installed and turn lock-to-lock to check for rubbing? I tried looking up 255/85-16 and it's a no-go. They are shown as backordered everywhere. We need a new option.

Not yet. I've been covered up on other projects. I did get my wheels all ready. Hopefully I'll get to it soon. Will post pics and results I promise!

Great looking aggressive tires. The biggest I could put on were 33" and they did well with no rubbing anywhere.

They seem to have what others just don't carry and in stock.

I did a quick look and they seem to have some choices for 255.

PepBoys is a partner to do the mounting if you need that done.

In my case I needed English sizes for a Sankey trailer on Rover
rims -- metric just didn't fit right.

Let me know down the road (after having it hit few bumps and such) and tell me if you encounter rubbing.

If possible, could you get the steering full lock in one direction and snap a pic of what kind of clearance you have? I'd greatly appreciate it!

You're not just looking for rubbing against the body undercarriage. The front tire can also encounter parts of the suspension when making a sharp turn.
In this case a larger than stock tire was mounted and on a sharp left hand turn while going over an obstacle, the tire contacted the limiting strap and the spring.

The limiting strap ended up partially shredded.
And the top spring cup "nipple" was dislodged from the body mount.

What size tire was ran when this happened?

Sorry but I don't remember the size. I bought the Pinz with them on it and they were the second things to get replaced (after the batteries). They were Interco Trxus and I think the aggressive shoulders contributed to the problem. I had Intercos on my first Pinz with no problems.

I took a look at some of the original photos I had and enlarged and cleaned them the best I could. I can make out LT 255 but the ratio is obscured. I also am not sure if they are the tires that caused the damage or if it was another set. It occurred with 2 owners back from me and the PO had not fixed it.

I'll tell ya and it ain't directly on topic -but- I run 285's and I will be glad when they are
worn out so I can replace them with 265/75-16's. Lots of choices for that size and a
better size all around on the trail and road IMHO.

Anyone run a 33x12.50 16? Thinking the Trxus aggressive pattern ones sound pretty good, look killer a d have a smaller contact patch than the 12.5

Search 315/15-16 that's almost identical to a 12.5-16 with a 70% wall.

I think what you will see is tires in the 315 range are more common on
the Volvo's than Pinz.

There have been one or two postings I recall where some had tires bigger
than 285's but more with the comment they would not go that big again -- 285
is pretty much the largest tire for the Pinz to get wheel-well clearance. Look
at your Right front for clearance, it's the tightest due to the forward offset from
the diff -- ain't got a lot of clearance in there, esp. when your going down a
steep grade on a hard Left turn. You don't need large diameter tires on a Pinz
with Portal's. Next set for me is narrower and smaller diameter -- more Torque
and easy to steer on rough stuff
