Those are the specs for the 3 different types of strings:

if you put on a 2 stripe rear spring 3,78 kN (~850 lbs) you should get a compression to 240 mm (9.44 inch) .. without weight you should messure 342 mm (13.46 inch)

I guess the springs are of a heavier type ... original are 11 windings, 9,5 windings in the air ...

Minor update to this conundrum.

With the break in travel and spring snow storms, I was able to pull the rear springs on one side and dig a little deeper into why the rear is at the top of it's travel.
The springs end up being approx 13.5" long so that must mean that they are in fact the two stripe windings.. Thanks for that info Simon. They also have their fair share of rust, although nothing too terrible, and are certainly better off than the lower spring cups!

At this point I have ordered some good used spring cup assemblies from SAV along with a back up light switch so I can add a simple light out back. I also have a used set of better condition rear springs, courtesy of Mr. Zero, to install once the new cups come in. Fresh Doetsch shocks will round out the rear end, whether it sits lower or not!

I've been rocking the new springs and shocks for the last half of summer and while the ride was certainly better, the Pinz was still sitting too tall and while parked unloaded, there was only about a 1/4" slack in the limiting straps.

So today I went after my original springs, cleaned the scale from them then zipped off the top and bottom coils of each spring with a cutoff wheel. Reinstalled, she sits about a 1/2" higher in the back now and the ride is noticably smoother. Look at all that slack in those limiting straps!

I'm still not sure why she sits so high in the back, but until I find the real solution, these cut springs will do the job nicely.
