10 mm holes in brake drum

Post by Pols497 »

Anybody know what is supposed to go in the two threaded 10 mm holes on the brake drumb. Is there supposed to be a plug or a bolt in there to keep out water or are they left open.

Neither. Much more Teutonic a purpose.

Thread two bolts into these holes and tighten to remove the brake drum.

Cool, huh?

I keep a pair of bolts in my tool box for just such a use. Don't have to go looking for bolts when it's time to adjust.

There 4 bolts on the backside of the cargo bulkhead that work for that. They're usually not used on most trucks, so some people take then out and throw them away.
Didn't know your truck had additional tool kit already fitted., did ya.

Previously I had been using those four bolts to secure the ARB cooler bracket I had fabricated. Now that I have a new cooler and it is being held in a different configuration, those bolts could be used.
Thanks Dave.
