Aftermarket Shock Absorber Poll for Pinzgauers

Post by OHAM1 »

I have not seen a poll about aftermarket shocks provided online by different pinzgauer parts dealers. I am including the following:

Rancho RS5000 being sold by Swiss Army Vehicles. http://www.pinzgauer.com

Rancho RS9000 being sold by Cold War Remarketing. http://www.coldwarremarketing.com

Doetsch Shocks being sold by Expedition Imports. http://www.expedition-imports.com

Please vote on the poll and elaborate your decision.

Thank You.

Just my opionion
I was driving my Pinz this week with brand new Doetsh shocks
it was -15 and I had 50 psi in the tires due to highway use.
The rear of the truck rides like a dream , but that could be do
to the 4 wheels at the rear on the 712, or the new shocks.
The front suspension shakes your teeth out running over frozen ground ,
uneven ice , and pot holes.
So from my experience so far (limited) it's not a good shock for the front
under the conditions I have described, hope that helps a bit.

I will say this about rancho shocks
I had 280,000 miles on my chev 3500
and the shocks finally wore out.
Rancho replaced them for free, no questions just a quick inspection
from a Rancho dealer and they were replaced. I Just put them on my new truck as well.
A great shock , for pickup's but I don't have any info how they work on a Pinzgauer

you may like it better at 35 to 40 psi. 500 lbs is a very light load in a 712. I'm usuly at ~40 front and 35 rear with my 710k for road / hiway 20 offroad.

Don't get Doetsch Shockers in Australia.....here the big boys are Koni and Bilstein.
I run Bilsteins on the Haffy and Koni's on the 712, but I'm not sure what I'II fit on the 718.
