Making Brake Pedal the Best It Can Be / Alignment

Post by Stekay »

I decided to invest so time trying to improve my brake pedal. Mine was good for drum brakes, but I wanted a "disc" brake feel. To make a long story short, it involved the standard procedure of adjustment, but with the addition of pumping the pedal and re-adjusting the wheel cylinders three times, alternating between the two when doing the fronts. I also loosened the lug nuts to allow the drums to re-center on the hubs, then retightening and re-adjusting.
I now have a pedal that a non power disc brake vehicle has. Immediate and rock solid. While I was playing and dirty, I also check my front toe-in as I never had and just returned from a rough off-road trip(Mass Mogfest) with the steering wheel slightly off center. This mad a huge difference in vehicle stability and hard emergency braking is now a non "event". Just straight and smooth. Hope this helps.
