Put new pads on and now the brake lights only come on when I put considerable pressure on brakes. Pinz brakes just fine with no braking issues. Fluid level looks fine.
I know it is a hydraulic switch. Where should I start??? New switch? Re bleeding brakes?

Re: New Brake pads now brake light issue
How much travel are you getting with the pedal when pushed hard? Maybe the pads are not adjusted properly as there is too much clearance between the pad and the drum.

Replace the switch, they do wear out.
Re: New Brake pads now brake light issue
Regarding new brake pads...I have ordered new brake shoes from SAV. They come with the pads attached with some type of adhesive. Are they as strong as the riveted ones?
What is the purpose of the slots in the OEM pads? Is it worth the time and effort to have them slotted and is it something I can do myself? ...and more important, should I do this?
Edit: as for throwing the old ones out...I have to return them to SAV for deposit.

Modern adhesives are amazing. Some have still had their shoe linings (nee "pads") riveted. Think belt & suspenders. The slots are to provide a place for the brake dust to go, improving lining to drum contact and will definitely improve performance.

don't throw out the old brake shoes, they can be relined and kept for spares. most modern brake linings are glued in place, a lot of us older guys prefer rivets, just cant stand change.
