Lug Nut Loosening

Post by totaljoint »

I want to share something I learned today about lug nuts.
I recently noticed my wheels shimmied at 50 mph+ , and made a squishy/squeaky noise on the passenger front side when I drove near a wall or fence.
Following Jim L's advice, I checked my lug nuts and found two studs broken off on that wheel. I've looked at all the wheels, but not with the thought of a lost or broken lug stud.
Amazing what can be right in front of you and missed if you don't give conscious attention to these things.
Hate to think what would happen if a front wheel came off while in motion!

Maybe tightening the lugs nuts should be something I check a little more often!
