Very clean execution. Compliments the truck well. How much protection will it render to the factory components if involved in a "rubber side up" event? Seams the flat stock wouldn't resist fwd and aft forces applied by brush on the trail. I see the bracket that ties into the roll member behind the front door. Wouldn't that just focus force into the one roll member?
There's a reason the racing community uses round tubing in its cage work. When assembled, they resist movement in all directions, thus distributing any forces through out the entire structure. The opposite of crumple zone construction. This would enable someone in SAR to tie off repelling/climbing ropes to any point of the cage with out worries about chaffing ropes or repositioning the truck.
The vanagon body is a more robust structure, thus doesn't require the same protection to be a functional roof rack. Anyone who has been on the SAV website has seen the squashed rear room member on their "used" pins parts image. I always discourage owners from removing the cage section of the front roll member for that very reason.
That all being said, I do like the work that has been done as it looks great. I also work in aluminum and can appreciate the simplicity of assembling machine cut plates to fulfill a light weight design.
Every fabricator has "their" way of doing things. I hope "my way" conforms to what works best for the application, not just what I'm used to doing, or what's available to me. My .02 for what its worth.

Reupholstered the rear seats. They came out nice. They will match the new Mastercrafr seat covers I ordered for my front seats.
