Best way to make door weatherstripping corners?

I just weatherstripped my driver's side door and am not happy with the corners. I tried to miter them with some scissors, but there are gaps. Is there a better way or is this as good as it gets? Is there a way to cut the inside edge and keep the lip continuous?

That's what I did too. I overlapped both ends together and cut them at the same time. I used super glue (the gel kind) and it held them pretty well.

It's just like cutting crown moulding. I used an xacto knife and then super glue. The nice part is that there is only one corner on the bottom.

I used the preformed weather striping for the tops. Still have the bottoms left over.
