VDO speedo setting

I have a new VDO speedometer that I am having trouble calibrating. I tried the autocalibrate method and it didn't work, so now I am trying the manual method. Does anyone know the value that you need to enter to calibrate it manually? The paperwork from SAV says 12520, but I tried that and it didn't work. I'm running BFG M/T tires.

I tried that multiple times several different ways and it gave me the F 00 error message. :?

I don't have the instructions in front of me,but be sure to have it in the right programing mode. It will also give an error if it is out of parameter.

I have done a 710,712, 716 and a 700 with the VDO on a mile...and amazingly, all of them and 3 other of my trucks have run a 26 mile fire trail and had the same results.

Sean:

Try calling SAV for support.

I followed the instructions step by step and programmed it to the value they described it without any inconvenient.

As long as all the cabling is done corectly it should not give you any problems.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

Thanks for the help. Something must be messed up with the wiring or something because I finally got it to register using the AUTOCAL method and it's 10mph too fast and it jumps all over the place and sometimes doesn't even register at all. Frustrating!

Check the sender to make sure it is screwed in tightly. Mine loosened up from vibration and the speedo readings became very erratic.

Thanks for the advice. Somebody installed it for me, so I'm going to have to get in there and figure out where the "sender" is! :?

The sender is located under the driver side. Just follow the black cable from the back of the speedometer, it should go through a hole on the driver's side, down to where the sender is screwed on. I won't promess but I will go out when the rain ends and take a picture for you. Not rocket science. Just follow the cable.

Found it! Thanks. I went and monkeyed with it a little this evening and now I am going to go test drive it tomorrow to see if I actually "fixed" anything or not. I'll let you know.
