Replacement for wiper arms and pivot?

Please correct my terminology... Ive had an issue with the wipers since i first owned the truck. The pivot arms that push through the windshield frame are stripped on the outside, so the wipers tend to fall below the seal and jam up. Today i attempted to tighten the screws on the wiper blade arm and it wound up splitting the wiper blade arm at the base. Need a new arm.

After the winter, ive noticed that INSIDE the truck, the wipers pivot below mid point and cannot bring themselves back. They jam up. I have a feeling this is indicative of wear due to the outside issues. Any ideas on how i can limit the travel so it doesnt cross the mid point? (The wiper motor travels 360 degrees, but the pivot arms have a much smaller radius of travel. If the push past a horizontal angle, they jam and cannot return)

Is there a VW alternative to the wiper blade arms and the pivot arms?

Sorry I didn't notice this post sooner.
I had this same problem with one of my Pinz's. The wiper motor linkage lever would allow the wiper push rods to drop too low (below horizontal) and cause the entire wiper arm to try to rotate in a complete circle.
My solution was to replace the 2 wiper push rods because I found that the plastic bushings in them had worn and loosened and were causing/contributing to the problem. I also loosened the mounting screws on the wiper motor bracket and was able to slightly shift the bracket to the left as I retightened the screws.
The wipers worked perfectly after that. I also had to file a flat spot on the worn wiper pivot shaft for the wiper arm set screw to tighten against.

Hope this makes sense and helps.

I realize that I'm resurrecting an old thread here, but curious if anyone on the forum members is using wiper arms other than the standard Pinz arms available from EI and SAV? If so, what make/model?

Thanks!
