Removal of Dashboard

Post by totaljoint »

To those of you who have worked under the dash:

If I want to remove the dashboard for a new speedometer or lightbulb xchange, will I have to take off the steering wheel?

Is it any easier to get more room to work by folding down the windshield instead?
Thanks!!

You neither need to remove the steering wheel nor fold the windshield down.
Just loosen the 5 big screws on the dashboard and pull it out.

Just a warning, Only move around the dash with the power OFF. It is super easy to cause the ignition to come into contact with metal. When you put it back in turn it off again.

I’ve been able to remove and replace the speedometer without pulling the dash. As was already mentioned remember to disconnect power.
