I am in the process of installing a fire ext. in my 712 and was wondering where you guys have installed yours. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Really depends on how big it is. Mounted mine behind the driver seat on the outside metal wall.
Took out two of the bolts at the bar that holds the ears and used them to hold the flashlight. No new holes drilled
for that. Mounted the FE next to that but had to drill holes. The bolts are covered by the outside ears. I was in a group
that required one and it be accessible to anyone and not too difficult to find...as in, not in a tool box somewhere.

Mine came from Switzerland with a fire extinguisher bracket already mounted behind the drivers seat on the engine side, I bought a small extinguisher from Lowe's and it fit the bracket perfectly.

I mounted mine on the cab divider cage, on the passenger side of the opening. This way I can reach it easily. I used large diameter fender washers to catch the cage mesh, been hanging there for many years now.

After reading about the fire in the Pinz:
http://www.real4x4forums.com/PinzgauerB ... hilit=fire,

and having my own battery box sparkler:
http://www.real4x4forums.com/PinzgauerB ... 8434de0867,

I decided to keep one where ever it would be most readily available. I keep one up front where the driver or passenger can grab it, and another
near the back door- in case the front cab gets engulfed!

The auto fire extinguishers are cheap enough at Costco (two pack) or Harbor Freight, why not have two?

Mine is mounted just as James did his. Big fender washers were the ticket. It's getting dusty too from a lack of use and that's how I like it!

I have three total, one behind each front seat and one on the shelves near my back door. Not paranoid, its just a 38 year old ex army truck with no prior knowledge of the maintenance on the truck. Hopefully I will never need them!

Mine are mounted on the divider mesh, you can see pictures here

They started vertical but when I added the inverter I switched them to horizontal as the fit better. Switch them over every so often to stop the powder clumping in one place.

I mounted mine on the roll bar behind the drivers left ear. I used one of the existing screws that secure the side canvas flap.

I copied ScottishPinz's placement, only mine are still vertical. One sits on the tow cable, the other one on the table. As I didn't find anything better, they are held to the screen by rubber straps, with a small rubber mat between FE and screen. And after reading you guys, am thinking of installing another one in the rear of my K. Hope to use none.

Not intentionally resurrecting an old thread, my Austrian K model came with a fire extinguisher bracket located behind the passenger seat next to the jack mount. The only trouble is the fire bottle needs to be about 4" in diameter (about 10cm). I have never been able to find one that fits exactly in the US. The ubiquitous Kidde models are either too small or at 4.5", too big to fit the bracket as the OEM extinguisher must have.

Anyone know a 4" dia (exactly) model that would fit properly?
