Door / window trim - looking for a missing piece

Post by texas pinzgauer »

My son and I attended a car show this morning with the Pinzgauer which turned out to be a huge attention getter. There were three Lamborghini Aventadors in attendance along with two new Ferrari GTOs and a new McLaren but that's not why I'm posting.

When we got home I noticed that the piece of door trim that's vertical and at the back of the window (passenger side) in the doors was missing. As it wasn't glued in, it must have just worked loose. Is this a Pinzgauer specific item or has anyone found something else that works well for this application? If there's a used one floating around your garage, please let me know that and if this is just an item I need to purchase from Scott at EI, then so be it.

Are you looking for the wipe strip that attaches to the glass and seals the gap between the 2 panes? http://www.expedition-imports.com/produ ... strip.html

Or the actual window channel? http://www.pinzgauer.com/showdetails.ph ... 1761188/07

Looks like it's the window channel piece Paul.

David,
I may have a decent used piece around that will fit. I'll take a look and let you know probably tomorrow.

Thanks Paul. Drop me an email if it turns up and it's in decent shape. I'm doing to glue this one in, this time!

I used original Mini window channel - same size and no problems - much cheaper than buying Pinzgauer stuff

As soon as I got a notification for this reply, I went to find the link for the stuff I bought - sadly, it's no longer working.

However, this is the same stuff:

Found this by searching for "double flock window channel"

Here's a bit installed in mine (on the vertical, the bit hanging down is original):

Here it is in the US: http://www.7ent.com/products/window-cha ... 8univ.html

It doesn't say how long the piece is for $18.95 so it's hard to tell how this compares at $28.46/meter at SAV.

Don't screw with it... by the time you add postal charges from the UK, plus wait possibly a month ( been there, keep on doing it  ). A domestic dealer can have it to you and you can it installed, for about the same

I didn't want to burst Spandit's bubble but I had the same thought Dave when he mentioned that it was the same as an original Mini.

As you have seen it all and done it all, should any auto trim shop have a similar product or should I just go with Scot or SAV for a piece of this OEM product?

Minimania.com is one of the most expensive sources for Mini stuff in the US, but they have the window channels you're looking for. Prices look pretty similar to Pinzgauer stuff.

I wonder if Land Rover has replacements that would work
