Trip meter reset knob

Post by berger »

Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket knob I can pick up for the trip reset cable? It is very difficult to reset without the knob. I know SAV sells the entire cable for about $9, but trying to find something I can get local.

Cheers!

Thanks Stekay! Since I don't know what the original looks like, could you give me an idea of what resembles the Pinz knob? I think I need one with a "d hole" in it too.... :?:

The original knob is a knurled silver metal. Round with engraved criss-cross pattern on sides.

FYI: From a Porsche/VW site with the same gauges and issues; "Never reset the trip meter with the vehicle in motion or you will break the tiny drive gears". Ask me how I know.

I was also informed that turning it backwards (I don't know which direction that is) would break it to. Mine was inoperative when I acquired my 710K. Has an electric unit now.
