cover gasket

Post by og »

I took apart the front tarp (cover) and I have noticed the transparent amber-colored sealant between the front cover and divider cover. Sealant peels off easily from the cover material and leaves no residue. Sounds and looks like a good idea, but what kind of sealant is that, does anybody know?

There was no sealant on either of my 710M's that had tops. Maybe something the previous owner did?
I've never had a leak there but of course now I will cause I opened my mouth

I take mine apart and use black rtv to make a good seal. When going down hill in a rain it used to really pour in the cab without it.

OK, originally it was not there, so I guess previous owner put it there. But what material did he use? Is RTV silicone easily removable?

it won't stick to the vinyl unless it is cleaned really well before applying. Even my new top did not stick to the rtv. It just forms a gasket and helps keep the water out.
