Unknown bolt.

Post by berger »

A couple of weeks ago while in the Canada Day parades, one of my rear passengers found this bolt loose in the back. I didn't have time to check it out then, but when I did, I still couldn't find the source. Based on the colour, it has to be from the Pinz.

Any ideas?

Difficult to see how big it is from the photos - can you measure the dimensions?

It is about 1"/25mm long and I think it is an M8 bolt.

It does look like the bolt that holds the rear handles on, but both are there and nothing appears to be missing. Could it be from the front divider wall?

Oh, this is simple -- it is held by the nut behind the wheel! Better keep it in your pocket when driving.

But really, this is a puzzle. Could it have been "hiding" somewhere and just recently "fell out"? Maybe it hid from the Swiss servicemen and they just replaced what they couldn't find?

The big cross pattern looks like the bolts that hold the door handles... But I guess you would have noticed already if that was it. :|

A bolt from the side rubbing strips? Is that possible? They have a cross head like that on mine.

Don't know how it would have ended up indoors though.

The rubrails have roundhead screws, not flathead.

I know you guys have been on pins and needles waiting to hear where this bolt goes...and I am happy to report I found it!!!

It isn't from the pinz..... :D I keep a breaker bar in the back of the truck and I guess the retaining bolt the keeps it together vibrated out....
