Rear door lock on a "K"
Rear door lock on a "K"
Not referring to the keyed lock, but rather the "push-pull" knob next to the rear door handle on a 710K, I'm curious to it's original designed usage concept.
It's sort of a lock, but not really.
How was it used in the military on a practicable application basis?
Thanks
Mike

The half-door on the M has the same push pull lock. Personally, I think it is there so that the door doesn't pop open. Imagine if a load shifted in the back and slid back towards the door. The simple latch mechanism could pop open, whereas the pop-lock ensures it stays closed.

Berger is correct, Page 68 in the Operators Manual.
Also for the front and side door locks see my post in this thread.

funny thing about that chain on the spare. I owned my truck for a year before the light bulb went off in my head telling me what it was for.

As long as we're on the subject of unique features of the PInz... how about that little hand painted yellow dot on the left side of the dash housing.
That mean anything? e.g. some kind of mod or upgrade has been performed?

Re: Rear door lock on a "K"
Just installed the rear door lock on my 'M'. The door is sagging a bit so the pin would not engage. Had to use a round file to elongate the hole in the door. Also ground the rough edges off the
cam so it rotated a bit smoother. Works fine now. Took the lock to a locksmith to have it keyed to the front door key.
The pinz is a continuing process, always learning something. That door lock is not very complicated a device.
Happy trails

I read about the yellow dot and blue dot discussion in the old section.
No one really knows it seems?

Mine has a yellow dot with fingerpainted "S i/c" (or S i/o) under it. No idea what it means.

i/o might be "in ordnung" (in order), which would be a good signcrcpinz wrote:Mine has a yellow dot with fingerpainted "S i/c" (or S i/o) under it. No idea what it means.
