Brand new top Problems

Post by Jackal80 »

I Just bought a new stock top for my 712 but the cord was not long enough to fasten to the hooks. Is this Right?

looks like you have a bunch of wrinkles in the top still. With the colder weather the cordage might be a little stiff. Looks like the top will lay flat and the cords will stretch to fit fine once it comes up to temp.

Start at the front and lace the hooks pulling the cord as tight as possible as you go, don't leave any slack.... if that doesn't work, get a gym membership.

I like to hook every other one first, that helps to even out the tension across the length of the cord. Then I go back and "tighten" it all up by hooking the rest.

Sounds like you've already replaced the rubber, but when I had mine replaced, I could barely get it hooked and assumed it was too short, but they do stretch out, now I've got too much slack and need to shorten them. Did you paint your tan pinz or have you acquired a second one? Hope the scavengers tour business is booming.

Nice lookingo truck! What type and size tires are those? They look great as well! I had the Same problem with my new top. I fired up the shop heater to max and let it warm up really well, eventually all went on and looked good. Good luck!
