Feedback: my wife does not have a hairdryer, so I heated the whole speedo by placing it out in the sun for a couple of hours on a very hot day. Prying the lens out with two very small screwdrivers did the job. After repair by scouring the shaft where the last gear goes, the problem was putting the lens back in. It was very easy with a friend's hydraulic press. The black ring that goes on around it, though, got slightly warped in the process.
