rub rail nuts

i think your taking away from the strength of the rub rail by not having it against the body its more likely to break the wood like that .I'm going to make a rubber gasket out of a tire and sandwich it between the wood and body ( so water cant get behind)

I used aluminum, and you would be surprised at how strong those nuts are. Jeep guy demonstrated them to me by standing on the new fenders he installed using the nuts.
