My 710 has one of the informative stickers on the speedometer about max speeds for different conditions. Unfortunately, it's become almost impossible to see through and I've wanted to remove it. One would expect it would just peel off but it seems to be adhered to the speedometer so strongly that it's going to take some added measures. Does anyone know if something like Goof Off or another similar product will work without damaging the speedo lens?
On a similar note, are replacement stickers available?
Thanks.

I think the speedo lens its glass, so get the sticker off with a razor blade, after goo-gone or alcohol,

NO, it's not glass! It's plastic. Careful with that axe (or razor), Eugene.
I've had good luck using a headlight repair kit, with the little buffer pad for the drill and various compounds. It's easiest when the metal trim ring is out of the way.

Veggie oil and then rub with peanut butter
Use some mild soap to then remove the oils
Will be slow but should not damage the plastic lens

Re: Speedometer Sticker
Gentle heat will soften the adhesive (excessive heat will melt plastic!). Try a hair drier.

I was told you can get it off with petrol. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

Re: Speedometer Sticker
You could but gas/petrol can etch plastics and cause the lens to turn foggySquiggas wrote:I was told you can get it off with petrol. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

@Hersir - if you use a "home remedy" what you are doing is scrubbing
the sticky stuff off and either oiling it, so it won't stick anymore, or giving
it something else to stick to, so it won't stick anymore.
Any plastic cleaner or even glass cleaner will work. DO NOT use a scrubber
pad of any sort because you don't know, until you test it, if the scrubber pad
is harder than the lens or not. Your best bet is the Turtle Wax lens kit. I have
a kit that I've used a dozen times on reflectors, soft windows, etc. They give you
a whole bottle of the stuff, and it barely takes any to do a reasonable sized area.
Besides, it's made for it, and cleans up scratches on the lens while you're at it.
Also, in a pinch, toothpaste and a soft cotton cloth will work. It has teeny, tiny
scrubbing capsules that won't scratch the finish.

Re: Speedometer Sticker
Thank you for all the input. I forgot to ask in my original post if anyone knew a source for replacement labels.
Thanks.
Thanks.
