Wondering if anyone has fab'd a seal for the transmission access panel (part 7111610902/55) or the cover floor filler hole (part 7111610542/94)?

SAV is sold out of the seal for the transmission panel and the seal for the cover floor filler hole seems to be not available. Any material recommendations? I assume some sort of foam or rubber... looks basic but figured i'd ask...

appreciate it!

Piece of Neoprene, Orchard Supply or your favorite hardware store.
Or apply a sparing amount of RTP, just a bit more difficult to remove later.

If you try RTV, try this method: Put a layer of wax paper down over opening. Put a bead of RTV around the cover. Place the cover (with RTV) over the opening, and install screws; just leave the screws about 1 turn loose (do not squeeze the RTV out completely). Let the RTV cure for a few days. Remove the cover, peel off the wax paper, and you have a formed RTV gasket that will only take a turn of the screws to seal tightly.

Maybe cork rubber gasket material from any auto parts store. It's pretty much what I always use for stuff like that.

I use old inner tubes for a lot of things. Something like this is perfect for that application. Really doesn't have to seal all that much.

I loaded some wet (more like drenched) floating cushions in the back of the Pinz the other day, and 5 minutes later someone tells me: "Something is dripping under your Pinz!". I made sure to check and it was water. Mine don't seal that much at all... Could be a good idea for a fix to add something that just begins to seal...

Now that I think about it, after seeing videos of folks playing "submarine captain" in the pinz, these seals are more about keeping water from coming up from below than coming in from the bottom. That and preventing liquid from pooling on top of the differentials / transmission.

Thanks for the ideas.

I'll fix it anyway because I can't keep from tinkering on the thing.

I personally would make up a gasket using a scrap piece of leather then soak in some oil and install it. A shoe repair shop (Cobbler) always have scrap leather kicking around.

I use both foam camper tape(adhesive backed) for the transmission cover and foam tool box drawer liner for making gaskets for the smaller cover plates.
