Pinz mirrors, US military issue!

Post by CentAr712 »

The USMC's LAV-25 combat vehicle uses the exact same mirrors and mounting brackets as the Pinz. I didn't remember that the LAV-25 was made by Mowag of Switzerland until I spotted the familiar Pinz mirrors as LAV-25's were loaded aboard my ship as cargo.

I have yet to find a LAV-25 mirror from any surplus dealer, but now we all know and can be on the lookout! Hopefully this will eventually drive down the high cost of Pinz mirrors as soon as some surplus ones do become available.

Didn't think they had any mirrors (what's behind me doesn't matter...)!

The mirror arm is visible in that pic; it's attached to the front turn signal, but it's swing in and the actual mirror is missing on that particular vehicle in the pic.

I don't think any of the mirrors are the same as the Pinz. Land Rovers, Supacats , CVRTs and many of the Euro armored vehicles use something from the distance look similar, but the stems are double the diameter and larger mirror heads.

No, it's a genuine Pinz mirror, I touched it. I have dozens of them to look at. Yes the arm is larger diameter, but it necks down right at the clamp. I'll try to upload a pic if I have time before we get underway.

Touché'! They look like pinz mirrors to me! Actually, I would be glad to add an LAV-25 to my collection....
