Post Smaller steering wheel with power steering?
I just got my rig back from Andre, who did a bunch of work for me, including installing my power steering. All I can say is WOW! It's a completely different experience. I love it, and am looking forward to having it for snow driving later this year.

I'm finding that even on the lowest setting it feels like the size of the steering wheel is a bit large and could get reduced a little bit and fine tune the feeling some more.

Has anyone swapped their steering wheel out for a different model? I'm curious what others experiences have been.

Thanks,
Ben

The Arizona crew used to cut the center out and mount it in a new smaller hoop
You can search it here but it was a long time ago

PS rocks and I would be interested in a smaller wheel too but only if it looks more on the stock side of things.
Perhaps we have Andre weld up a couple?

The advantage of sticking with the stock steering wheel is if your
PS unit craps out on the trail then you still have the leverage the
bigger wheel provides.

I built a few of the steering wheels. Just to clear it up the outside circumference did not change from the stock wheel. I still love the modified wheel even with my power steering unit. I was just asked this past weekend how a particular trail feel with the power steering compared to without. I honestly did not notice that I had power steering, it has become the norm for me and I can not or do not want to think of driving without the unit. All that being said I would not want to drive the truck with a smaller wheel if something went wrong with the steering assist unit.

I believe I've found a tractor which has the same steering column shaft as the 710/712 Pinzgauers - here is the drawing which I compared to the original:

All of the dimensions appear to be an exact match - even the metric nut and taper on the shaft.

There are new 15 inch diameter steering wheel available for this model of tractor which are about $75 online - here is a photo of it:

I will be ordering one to see if it actually works and will then let everyone know the model numbers etc.

There is a nice chrome center cap also - but it doesn't include a horn switch. Will need to figure that out still...
