Hello all,
I was poking around on the internet this morning and came across this winch mount made for the Pinzgauer. It is made in Germany. Below is a link to the page:

https://pinzgauer-ersatzteile.webnode.a ... uer-vorne/

I've purchased from this vendor before and was not disappointed.

Anybody on this forum who has personally used this winch mount, knows someone who has one, or any other information regarding this particular set-up, please chime in.

I've attached a photo of it taken from the vendor's website.

Thanks,
Scott

Why not just get a real mount that uses bolts from here in the US?

(I'll stop commenting on temp mounts, Im promise) ://

The reason for that device lies within our legislation:

Anything you modify on a vehicle that is registered for traffic on public roads has to be TÜV approved.
Moreover, if you weld something to the frame the welder has to show his welding diploma.

Currently in Germany most Pinzgauers are registered as "historical vehicle" giving them discounts for insurance and road tax, and allowing them into city centers, which are currently restrited to vehicles wih certain emission control levels.

This winch mount bypasses that restriction. It uses the front towing mouth as mounting point and is held by the bolt; thus no modification to the existing vehicle, and it can be removed without a trace .....

And we complain here in California ://
Don't write in to the DMV.CA making any suggestions :(

Thank you for the info on this item Albert. The design serves its purpose for you guys over there in Europe and it looks well made.

I do agree with Vince though. I want something that actually bolts up to the vehicle.

I like the look of the stock bumpers and don't want to have the vehicle look a jungle gym is attached to it just to have a winch. A proven design that works without major modifications to the vehicle is what I'm looking for.

I suppose I'll reach out to Fat Fabrications and see what can be done or the Mule Expedition mount.

just one remark to your plans:

if you permanently block access to the the towing mouth with the winch you should think about another fixed point you can hook on to.
search the site for bikmakr's design

When I made my winch mount, I re-inforced the center frame member with 1/4” steel. Also added an anchor point for a double winch line pull. Winch mount used existing holes.
