To me those things dont even belong on a pinzgauer and where ever availble on them from the factory...the only truck that had these was the 404 Mog......i just dont like them

Honest question, do you drive your Pinzgauer regularly? I don't know how the hub step wasn't a factory configuration. It's a much better step position and doesn't compromise the approach angle like the body-mounted steps fitted to some Pinzgauers.

Well i own a 716k and have the original steps that are normaly mounted on the pinzgauer. They look alot like these and i had never problems with approach angles.... even when i puch them trough the mud or ground , they keep up verry well.

I'd be interested in aluminium hub steps.

If you can just get a idea of what the flange part should be thickness and OD and the OD of the step portion I will draw something up.

I ended up building me own. Here's the dimensions I used. The flange is just less than the gap between the wheel and the brake housing so that it won't interfere with wheel mounting. The set screw keeps it from rattling once installed. There's nothing magic about the wall thickness on the step itself - mine was based on some scrap I had lying around.

The Land Rover style of wheel steps which bolt onto the wheel studs are much more comfortable on the feet. They are much larger in diameter and more easily attach to the wheel.

I am sure those larger steps are more functional but not very good on the aesthetics'.

Here is my idea based on your dimensions. The two piece design keeps the price down and makes it so they are slightly adjustable to take out any play. I know that the main issue going this route is they could come lose but with some red loctite and the friction between the threads and the face against the hub I do not think it would be a issue.

Also, do we need some form of rubber pad between the hub step an the wheel, to eliminate rubbing of aluminum against metal?

Do you mean for the flange or where the center piece butts up against the hub or both? Since you can lock it tight I am not sure how much it would move and rub really.. The center piece would rub as its tightened but not sure after that but I wouldn't think the center of the rim would flex much if at all??

I would like to eliminate any rubbing against the wheel (if I can help it), be it flange or center piece.
Maybe some sponge tape could help achieve that.

I also think the center of the rim won't flex at all.
