building a 712 k out of 2 710 k's

Build projects, things that guys have come up with to make a Pinz better (or worse?) and aftermarket add-ons.

building a 712 k out of 2 710 k's

Post by Higher Ground »

I may have the opertunity to get 2 710 k's that are in parts , one in the proces of a jeep 4.0 L install . Would it be possible to make a 712 out of the parts ? I know that I would need the short center tubes and rear leaf-spring mounts . Can it be done ?

Have not done it. But I thought about a 712DK conversion.

It would, to me, be a process that would require the creation of a 712K bottom body, 712K top and the 712 drive train and suspension. I think you have all the parts for the top and bottom. But I would find a 712m for the mechanicals.

The proper mating of two 710 bodies (lower and upper) would have to be done via a jig/template and have all the structural bits. You have be ready for a lot of welding.

Not only would it be a long, tedious modification, but the cost of the misc. 712 parts such as (transfercase shift cable, E brake cable, Locker lines, etc...) could run you more than starting with a 712.
