Spare Tire Cargo Rack

Post by Jackal80 »

Does anyone know if there is a cargo rack that will mount to my spare tire?

Never seen a stock one but, i bet someone can make one.
There is already a lot of weight on that door with the tire.

I have a box mounted on the inside and it does add weight.

Grab the tire mount that attaches to where the main ant mast is positioned (center above cockpit), then mount your cooler to the back door.

So...you're going to mount a cooler to the back door...and leave your beer exposed to the world?
Sounds risky to me.

 Now what would be pretty nifty is if you took an old gas can or two, CAREFULLY cleaned it out and cut it down the center. Insulate, toss a hinge on it, and turn THAT into a cooler!

Why not re-invent the wheel?
They're call mermites. ... exactly as you described. Fits perfectly into a gerry can holder.

But back to topic, try not to add any additional weight to the back door, they are already weak. The TDs have a swing out tire carrier with the rear door mounted to the carrier.

I am looking at your avatar and see that you have a 712, is there no room inside for the cooler? Has the bowling alley and
pool taken it all up? You are really going to put pressure on those hinges with a tire mounted anything.

I do tours for wineries and breweries and carry passengers in the back and have no room for wine glasses and beer mugs.

David, is the Mermite a stock item as a gas can? Or did you copy the MIL version? I like, and think I need one
