replacement hatchet or ax or axe
If you're looking for a replacement ax, it looks like Swiss link has some available. I haven't bought this one, but it looks identical to mine.

Re: replacement hatchet or ax or axe
The hatchet at swisslink.com has a 13" handle, which is too short to fit the ax holder. The original axe is about 22" long.

Since there is no 'foot' at the end of the handle just get a larger axe and cut it down. Cut, sand and paint. It'll work.

Oops, I posted the link to the wrong one. This is the bigger one. It's 20" long though, not 22". Again, I haven't tried this one, but it was in their sales email.

Re: replacement hatchet or ax or axe
Question? Where is the proper way or procedures for mounting the ax, ax holder, on a 710M ?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

It's in front of the passenger seat. If you are missing the holder or the rubber strap then there is an alternative. I made a strap from a piece of bicycle inner tube until I clould get a real strap. The inner tube is just the right length to strap down the handle.
Cut out a section about 3/4 in wide so you have a circular strap.

Re: replacement hatchet or ax or axe
For those still looking for replacement axes, I just came across these at Garret-Wade.
Original Swiss Army Axes 30-50 years old.
Don't know if they fit the passenger side bracket, but the large one looks like it might.

I'm not sure, but I think it was mentioned on here before that the Sportsmansguide Swiss axes are the wrong size, but who knows, they always get new stuff at SPG.

I bought two from Sportsmanguide and they both fit fine.CentAr712 wrote:I'm not sure, but I think it was mentioned on here before that the Sportsmansguide Swiss axes are the wrong size, but who knows, they always get new stuff at SPG.
Re: replacement hatchet or ax or axe
The one I just got from Sportsman Guide has too large a head to fit in the bracket. It looks identical to the Garrett-Wade larger one but is half the price. The handle is also a little long but could be easily trimmed - the head, not so much.

C'mon Paul. A little extra sharpening and that axe head should be small enough...
You should get one from 19D20. I hear he got two.
