Intro/finally finished my build.

Intro/finally finished my build.

Post by zmoorman »

Just wanted to give a quick introduction of myself, and my recently updated Pinz.

I bought the vehicle back in '06 primarily for use as a hunting vehicle at my ranch. The company I bought it from outfitted it according to my needs ( generic flood lights, larger tires, basic hunting rack in the rear...). The setup was spartan to say the least, but it I was more than happy with it at the time. 5 years worth of upgrading ideas go by and I decide it is finally time to revamp the vehicle. The area that I was most concerned with was comfort, for myself and my front and rear passengers, so I figured that I needed some new front seats and a new hunting rack in the rear.

Thats how it all started, thinking those two items were all I needed, as I was hauling the vehicle back to San Antonio I must have thought of ten ways to make my beloved Pinz better. When I got home I compiled those ideas, and some extra ones, into a list that looked something like this:

-Full ignition upgrade from E.I.
-New VDO speedo, fuel, and voltage gauges.
-CD/ipod sound with four weather/water proof speakers.
-CB/Ranch radio
-2 12v outlets
-Hella headlamp upgrade
-4 Warn 400HID lamps
-Manually switched reverse lamps
-Interior light
-Hardwire a road feeder control switch
-Add a 12v alternator to charge separate battery bank.
-DOT brake/signal lights
-Line X interior of cab and bed, and exterior areas
-Custom cup holders
-Custom light/brush bar
-Custom 2" hitch receiver front and rear of vehicle
-Custom Grille
-Custom vented windshield with bolt on cover for when it gets chilly
-Custom removable hard/soft top
-Cab entry steps
-High-Cap fuel tank
-Padded gun scabbards ( 1 in cab, 2 on rack)
-Front bucket seats
-Custom hunting rack with side entry, dual reclining bucket seats, foldable bench in rear, and cup holders and catch-all's for each seat.
-High exit exhaust
-New carbs
-K&N Air filter
-Doetsch shocks
-16X18 widened wheels
-315 KM2 Mud Terrains

After about a year and a half of work, it's finally finished. I just drove it 130 miles to the ranch last weekend. It was 30 degrees and was one of the best times I've had.

I don't see any windshield wipers; did you decide you didn't need any?

But i really like what you have done with the venting and seating! 8)

Really would like to see how you did the 12V alternator to charge batteries as I have a separate battery
to run the ARB cooler but the battery is no longer being charged by the solar panel, it died.

I don't drive it in the rain, or drive it when there is a chance of rain, so I didn't see much use for the wipers. This thing rarely leaves the ranch, so I don't worry about something like being caught in a storm on the highway.

I'll try to get some pics of the 12v alternator when I'm at the ranch next, but basically the alternator's bracket is welded to the block and is powered via a twin-grooved drive pulley. The pulley came with the truck when I bought it, I got lucky there.

I'm located in San Antonio, the ranch is in Brady, TX.

Thats a typo on the wheel dimensions, sorry 'bout that. They are 16X8 and I ordered them from SAV.
Amazingly, the tires don't rub. Whether the cab alone is full, or if the whole vehicle is carrying 8 people, the tires have never touched the body.

Just wondering if I could come see your Pinz and maybe pick your brain about it. I've got a 710M and live midway between Brady and Mason.
