Front Aluminum plate mod

Build projects, things that guys have come up with to make a Pinz better (or worse?) and aftermarket add-ons.

Front Aluminum plate mod

Post by berger »

I was cleaning up the truck tonight, and a thought popped in my head about the front aluminum plate on the Pinz. I would love to get one of the Swiss Plates, but since they are not available right now, I tried something different, and not permanent. I took some printable, sticky, transfer paper I had laying around and printed the Canadian flag on it. I resized the flag to 7 3/8", so I will need to trim the excess of the top and sides. Yes, I know the CF never used the Pinz...but it is my truck! :D

I am running out of ink right now, so the red appears more pink, but I will fix that...

It's your truck. I went to NWMF a few years ago and one of the Canadian guys had a big flag on his hood (bonnet) looked great and we knew where he was from, instantly.
...not just from his accent, aah.

That would have been Trevor or tkv000 (who is a co-mod with me on the Benz-World Unimog forum)
He has since sold his 416 and is now crusing in a larger U1300L RW1

I got my Pinz because my Dad swears up and down he rode in them in the Swiss Army, so it will be a Swiss Cross for me. (Even though the timeline doesn't match and I'm about 99% sure he was in a 404 mog.) He was out before 1970.

Reminds me of the story I was sharing with Andre Swanson and his wife earlier this week when we met up for lunch.

This guy was asking me about the truck one day then saw the Swiss flag on the front plate and asked me, "So how long have you worked for the Red Cross?"

My four year old is right into his Transformers at the moment, so I thought we could make a sign to bolt on the back. Turned out better than first expected. Great thing about these plates are there so easy to change.
