Eberspacher BN4 Questions

Post by Tyler »

I recently aquired a BN4 heater out of an 712. I need a 24V fuel pump to get fuel to the fire. Anyone have a part # or recommendation for this application?. Its pretty much the last piece of the functional puzzle to get it working. However, ive also heard of someone on here using the factory fuel pump for the truck and simply putting a "y" fitting inline to supply both the truck and the heater simultaneously. I dont necessarily like that idea. It may work, but it doesnt sound safe or reliable. Thoughts?. Ideas?.
Thanks.

Bn4's were used in VWs as well. Might just use a 12 v from a VW and get your power from you 12v converter for it.

Yours for sale, is it a military 24v unit or a 12v civilian unit?
Is is complete with the special pieces to vent out the side plate and run heat to the back?
Lastly what are you wanting to get for it?

It's a military 24V unit but designed for a Land Rover so to draw air from the side would need a mod. I was looking for £350 but open to offers

I'm confused.

The stock Heaters had an external 24v pump? Where is it mounted on a K?

On my K the electric metering pump is installed behind a panel in the right front wheel well by the tank. When the heater controller is calling for fuel, you can feel or hear the pump ticking if you listen closely. But then again my heater is a slightly different model B3LC used in the factory refurbs. There is a spec for volume of fuel over time in the Eberspacher manuals and the pumps are set at the factory. Otherwise you get smoke or flame outs.

If the pump is not ticking, or the tank is low on fuel, or the pump is not metering fuel, you won't get heat. The supply lines from tank to pump in mine had to be replaced, then there was heat.
